The Curative Analysis team in IT is tasked with finding the causes of significant IT issues that affect campus. In this news update, we draw your attention to some of the problems being investigated or issues handled recently.

WCUid ManagementRecently, some WCU employees who have applied to become students have encountered an issue.  In some cases, the employee WCUid has been overwritten when the student WCUid is created.  This problem has caused some employees to lose access to some university IT services.  To prevent the issue from occurring in the future, IT Security Analysts have developed a new method of creating student WCUids for employees who have an active WCUid.  The new method was tested in our development system, and moved into our production system this month.

Graduated Student Access to myWCUWe began receiving reports shortly after Spring Commencement that students who recently graduated were no longer able to login to myWCU.  Further investigation revealed a timing and process issue causing the student WCUid to be removed from the student role in our WCUid management system.  A new process was created and tested to prevent this issue from happening again.  The new process matches the WCUid Student Lifecycle policy and will ensure continued access to myWCU for recent graduates.
