Each month, the Division of IT hi-lights a service provided to the campus. This month’s service is:
E-mail via Mobile Communication Devices
Mobile Communication Devices (MCDs) are devices which are capable of receiving university “pushed” data/email. This includes, but is not limited to, smart phones and tablets.
At WCU, there are two ways to access to university data/email via Mobile Communication Devices:
Pull – Go to http://email.wcu.edu/ on your MCD for FREE
- E-mail messages are accessed via a mobile web browser. This is also known as web mail, accessible at http://email.wcu.edu/.
- This delivery method is recommended for security reasons.
- Requires a device with a web browser.
- Device is not required to be registered.
- Subject to Electronic Mail Policy 93.
- Not subject to Mobile Communication Device (MCD) Policy.
Push – Register for a tier of service at a COST
- E-mail messages are delivered (“pushed”) automatically to the MCD. Messages are viewed in an application on the MCD.
- This delivery method is recommended for employees that have a business need to frequently access university data/e-mail.
- Device is required to be registered.
- Subject to Electronic Mail Policy 93.
- Subject to Mobile Communication Device (MCD) Policy.
