Faculty and Staff now have the ability to create guest wireless accounts for your visitors 24×7 via the SmartPass guest access tool.   Guest wireless accounts allow visitors who are on campus for official University business to log in to the “WCU-Guest” wireless network.  Accounts are time-limited and grant access to the internet with limited network resources on campus.

IT would like to demonstrate the functionality of the SmartPass guest access creation tool and answer any of your questions about guest wireless accounts.  We would also like to ask for your feedback over the next few weeks and months in order to gain valuable constructive feedback on how the process is working for you.

Demonstration Dates and Times:

Tuesday, July 22nd 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Belk 406

Wednesday, July 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Belk 406

Location: Belk 406

With SmartPass, you may create as many guest wireless accounts as necessary to accommodate your guests, or you may create one single account to be used by multiple guests. You may create guest wireless accounts in advance as well as short notice for either a 24-hour access period or a 5-day access period.

If you are unable to attend one of the demonstration sessions, step-by-step instructions are available:

If you require a guest wireless account for an extended access period (greater than 5 days), you may request it online by using the Registration for Guest Access to Wireless form.

Remember that you are responsible for the activities of those who use the guest wireless accounts you create. You should only create guest wireless accounts for people you trust.

If you have questions or require assistance with WCU Guest Wireless, please contact the IT Help Desk at (828) 227-7487 or email ithelp@wcu.edu.
