The department of Academic Engagement and IT Governance (AEITG) is responsible for engaging with faculty at Western Carolina University to ensure their technology needs are met. Research projects and creative works will often have a technology component (for example, digital storage, security or publication needs). This service provides faculty with a one-stop forum for discussing and evaluating technology requirements associated with active scholarship at the university. This service has two key components:

  1. Identification of Existing Capability – AEITG analysts will work with faculty to outline existing products, services or capabilities within WCU that may fulfill the requirements of their scholarship. Training, software installation, and technology installation support service requests that are identified as needed based on this process will be facilitated by AEITG staff on behalf of the faculty member.
  2. Definition of New Capability – AEITG analysts will engage with IT Division subject matter experts and faculty to define the scope and requirements of new technology or business processes that may need to be purchased or created in order to meet presented scholarship needs. IT project or service requests that are identified as needed based on this process will be facilitated by AEITG staff on behalf of the faculty member.

Requirements/Limitations

Requests should be initiated by the faculty or staff member primarily engaged in the project in order to ensure familiarity with the specific needs under discussion.
