Service Description
Western Carolina University provides digital media support for faculty, staff, undergraduate, and graduate students both in and out of the classroom, including:
Audio, Video, and Images
This service includes support and facilities for recording and editing audio and video, as well as software support for image creation and editing programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Productivity and Design
Western Carolina University supports the use of productivity software on both Windows and Mac OS, including Microsoft Office (for Windows and Mac), Pages, Numbers, and the iLife and Windows Live suites. Additionally, design software such as Adobe InDesign is supported in both functionality and design principles.
Web Presence, Blogs, Wikis, and Podcasting
This services includes the support for web design and web design software as well as blogs and wikis, such as WordPress and hosted wikis external to the Learning Management System. Additionally, this service includes support for podcasting including iTunes U account creation, course management, and content management.
Digital Media Collaboration Tools
This service covers all hosted digital media solutions employed by Western Carolina University.
Consultations
Often, a potential project may not carry with it a clear indication of service or software required; this service represents the process of discovery necessary to fostering an effective digital media product.

WCU Faculty, Staff and Students.
Requirements/Limitations
Access to the Internet is a must and a modern browser for either Mac or Windows machines is required (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer 8 or later).
Service Availability
This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week except for University maintenance times.
IT’s Role
The Technology Commons supports students in using these tools. Faculty, staff, graduate student, and all other support is offered through the Coulter Faculty Commons, primarily through the CFC Sandbox, a high-end digital media lab housed in Hunter Library.
