Apple released the new operating system, El Capitan (v. 10.11) commercially on September 30, 2015.

The Division of IT (DoIT) is currently evaluating WCU core systems and services for compatibility with El Capitan (v. 10.11).  Once the new operating system has been tested and approved for integration with our enterprise environment, a planned migration of WCU-owned Apple computers will be scheduled. Our projection is to begin deployment to faculty and staff computers mid-spring 2016 and then to transition IT-supported classrooms and Open Access Student Labs by start of fall 2016.

Should I upgrade my computer to El Capitan (v. 10.11)?

At this time, we recommend that you DO NOT UPGRADE to El Capitan. Over the next few months, DoIT will be testing El Capitan (v. 10.11) with our services. Once DoIT completes testing, an announcement will come out to campus for faculty and staff that would like upgrade existing university-owned Apple computers to El Capitan.  Newly purchased Apple computers will come with El Capitan (v. 10.11).
