Microsoft commercially released Windows 10 on July 29, 2015. The Division of IT (DoIT) has a project underway to test the new Windows 10 operating system.  Once testing is complete, our projection is to begin deployment to WCU-owned faculty and staff computers during the spring 2016 semester.  We then plan to transition IT-supported classrooms and Open Access Student Labs by the start of the fall 2016 semester.

Windows 10 may have compatibility issues with the software and services you use on campus. Once these issues have been identified and assessed, DoIT will offer Windows 10 upgrade assistance. Coming this spring, all newly purchased university-owned Dell computers will have Windows 10 pre-installed.

Should I upgrade my computer to Windows 10? At this time, we recommend that you DO NOT UPGRADE to Windows 10. Over the next few months DoIT will be testing Windows 10 with our services. We will provide ongoing updates about compatibility issues and bugs.
