You asked and we listened! On August 4, new employees will have their WCU account (WCUid) set up and ready to use the first day they start work. In addition, faculty, graduate assistants, and teaching assistants will be able to self-activate their WCU account up to 90 days before their first work day, giving them access to WCU resources and people needed to prepare for their academic endeavors.

This is a result of the multi-year implementation of our new identity management processes and tools.  It replaces manual processes and will improve the speed and efficiency of new employees gaining access to campus resources such as the myWCU portal, Office 365, Banner, Blackboard, WCU wireless network. A similar, successful process was implemented in May 2016 to handle the large number of accounts required for students who apply to the university.

Human Resources (HR) processes for recruiting and hiring new employees have not changed. This new automated WCUid account creation does use and depend on complete and accurate employment compliance documents being submitted so new employees can be added to Banner HR. Also, this phase of WCUid account automation process does not apply to student administrative workers and guests. They will be part of a later project phase next year.
