The Curative Analysis team in IT is tasked with finding the causes of significant IT issues that affect campus. In this news update, we draw your attention to some of the problems being investigated or issues handled recently.
Banner 9 Admin Login: IT staff have been working with the UNC-System Office to resolve a recurring issue which sporadically occurs when attempting to login to Banner 9 Admin. Users receive an error message stating “Invalid username/password; login denied.” Configuration adjustments recommended by Oracle have been applied, and the issue has not recurred in several months.
Network Connection Issues: Unanticipated issues with a recent network configuration change caused students to experience wired and wireless connectivity issues on campus. The networking team rolled back the changes to restore service to the residential network.
Mercury (H: and P: drives) Share: Recurring issues with storage have resulted in faculty and staff being unable to connect to the Mercury share. IT Division staff are currently working with the vendor to implement a permanent solution. We have conducted multiple calls with the vendor who has also engaged storage engineers. We have updated multiple settings and immediately began work to migrate away from VMFS to iSCSI. All hands are working to get these systems migrated as quickly as possible.
