The Curative Analysis team in IT is tasked with finding the causes of significant IT issues that affect campus. In this news update, we draw your attention to some of the problems being investigated or issues handled recently.
Wired Network in Reid: During a configuration change to network switches in Reid, a missing configuration caused users to temporarily lose connectivity to the wired network. Networking staff pushed a new configuration to the Reid switch to restore connectivity.
Saturn Access Issues: A cluster error caused several users to experience issues connecting to shared drives on Saturn, including the H:/ and P:/ drives. IT staff isolated the problem to restore access and are monitoring the situation.
PawPrint: On January 4, a Windows update on print servers caused users to be unable to print to PawPrint printers. IT staff rolled back the update and are working on a solution to reschedule the update successfully.
VCAT General: Several users recently experienced issues signing into VCAT General. The cause was a faulty host that was provisioning corrupt VMs. The host was placed into maintenance mode and repaired by IT staff to correct the problem.
Vault Access: Extended time to backup databases caused some users to be unable to access Vault. IT staff adjusted the backup schedule to prevent it from running during business hours. During spring Data Center maintenance, IT will split the database backups to reduce backup time.
