Service Description
A softphone is a piece of software that allows users to make telephone calls over the internet via a computer or smartphone. You may request changes to a softphone, such as adding or removing a license to use a desktop application or smartphone app.
Requirements/Limitations
Available for Mac, PC, iPhone, and Android phone. Requirements: Internet connection with low latency. Depending on the device, the connection can be wired, Wi-Fi, or cellular data.
Eligibility
Available to any user with a campus phone extension (with Accountable Officer approval).
Service Availability
24/7/365 except during maintenance windows.
IT’s Role
Support and administration of campus phone system, including softphone licenses. Providing instructions to users for configuration and use of softphones. While it is possible to install softphones on non-WCU devices, WCU DoIT is not responsible for user-owned devices and is not responsible for non-WCU internet connections.

Softphone license cost is $1.50 per line per month. Cost must be approved by Accountable Officer.
