The Curative Analysis team in IT is tasked with finding the causes of significant IT issues that affect campus. In this news update, we draw your attention to some of the problems being investigated or issues handled recently.

Wired Network Connectivity:  On April 21, some clients experienced intermittent issues connecting to the wired network after a certificate change for wired port authentication. IT staff worked with the affected WCU-managed devices to ensure they were setup to access the wired network.

Network Connectivity:  A network loop on April 26 created issues with wired and wireless network connectivity for classrooms on campus. IT staff removed the loop and rebooted network switches for a number of classrooms to restore connectivity.

MS Teams:  On April 28, some clients reported missing groups in MS Teams. IT staff identified that approximately 86 teams sites were missing during a synchronization. The sync was halted, and the missing teams were restored. A ticket is currently open with Microsoft to determine the cause.

VCAT Access Issues:  On May 4, clients experienced issues accessing VMs through vcat.wcu.edu. Users were still able to access VMs directly through the VMWare Horizon application. A duplicate IP address was causing a communication error with a connection server. The device with the duplicate address was reassigned, and access was restored.

PaperCut Prompts:  Some clients reporting missing prompts from PaperCut when attempting to print. Epson drivers that were added to the server included additional software that restarted the print spooler multiple times. This caused some PaperCut services on the server to fail. IT staff uninstalled the Epson software and rebooted the server to resolve the issue.
