The Curative Analysis team in IT is tasked with finding the causes of significant IT issues that affect campus. In this news update, we draw your attention to some of the problems being investigated or issues handled recently.

Clearspan UC One Connect:  On May 12, some softphones were unable to register to Clearspan servers. All phones are now registering properly, and the cause is still under investigation by the vendor Clearspan.

Outlook App Error:  on May 17, several received an error message when trying to launch the locally installed Outlook application. The issue was cause by an older version of Office on these devices which was not receiving Windows updates. IT staff updated the version of Office on VCAT General as well as devices with the older version of Office so that they will be updated in the future.

VCAT Access:  A change was performed recently to remove some old domain accounts after an audit finding.  This change prevented some users from signing into VCAT pools. IT staff changed the account to resolve the issue.

MS Office Installation:  A setting recommended as a best practice by our firewall vendor was enabled that affected the Microsoft Office installation process. The setting has been disabled to allow the Office installation to run as expected.

myWCU Access:  On June 8, several users are experiencing issues accessing myWCU. The primary backend database was unresponsive and did not failover as expected. It came back online after a forced reboot of the server. Data Center Services has reached out to the vendor to determine the cause of the issue.
