The Curative Analysis team in IT is tasked with finding the causes of significant IT issues that affect campus. In this news update, we draw your attention to some of the problems being investigated or issues handled recently.

WCU-Guest Access:  On June 13, users began experiencing issues connecting to WCU-Guest wireless. A local certificate was expired. After a recent change to the guest login page from local controllers to Clearpass it was believed that the local certificate was no longer needed. Upon further investigation, this certificate is needed for the redirect and was renewed to resolve the issue.

HIPAA Zoom:  After a recent change, several Zoom users who are part of the HIPAA compliant instance began receiving a prompt to “Switch to the new Zoom account”. Users that switched reported that they lost all of their preferences and permissions. Troubleshooting efforts revealed that a group used in Zoom for HIPPA was not set correctly and was moving HIPPA users to the normal zone. Once the group was corrected the users were added back to the HIPAA zone.

Personal Services Error:  Preparation of a replacement SSO Manager instance, although not put into production inadvertently changed a setting that caused the active SSO Manager to not recognize a value returned during ADFS authentication. The changed setting was reverted back to its original value, and a plan was put in place to open change requests for prep work in the future.

Network Connectivity:  On July 8, users in several buildings began having difficulty accessing printing, Titanium, and other internal resources.  Some desk phones were unable to make outbound calls. A hardware failure in an HHS spine device was causing intermittent network issues. Traffic was failed-over to Forsyth spine, and the device was removed from the network and replaced.
