Automatic e-mail forwarding capability to retire Oct. 14
In an effort to meet contractual, regulatory and statutory obligations to protect certain types of data, automatic e-mail forwarding to external addresses from WCU email will be retired Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010.
Connection protocol known as IMAP to retire Jan. 2011
In order to reduce security risk to university accounts, the connection protocol known as IMAP will be retired Monday, January 17, 2011.
New purchasing procedures to cover all desktop, laptop computers through Dell
As of October 1, new purchasing procedures cover all desktop and laptop computers through WCU’s approved vendor Dell.
Mobile communication device pilot program takes off
Beginning Monday, Sept. 13, three university divisions (IT, athletics, and student affairs) will begin a pilot of the Mobile Communication Device Program.
IT rolls out DoIT.wcu.edu, support changes
After months of planning and behind-the-scenes work, the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) launched its new website, DoIT.wcu.edu, on Tuesday, August 3. DoIT.wcu.edu provides WCU students, faculty, staff, families and guests with a main point of entry to IT services and help, and reflects recent changes to support services.
eBriefcase available to 600 incoming freshmen
Students enrolled in English 101 classes this fall (2010) will be the first participants in Western Carolina University’s Education Briefcase (eBriefcase).
New IT website coming soon
After months of planning and behind-the-scenes work, the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is scheduled to launch a new IT website in early August.
Campus prepares for migration to Blackboard 9.1
Planning is already under way for the migration of WebCat to Blackboard 9.1.
CFC rolls Out Wimba MEETING for all faculty and staff
Collaboration for faculty and staff at WCU no longer has to occur face to face. Meeting with colleagues across the UNC system, the nation and the world is now possible virtually with Wimba MEETING.
