WCU invests in energy savings
Last year, WCU selected ConEdison Solutions, Inc. to conduct a comprehensive energy audit on campus. One of the energy conservation measures to be implemented is Faronics Power Save, a computer power-down software.
New Student Technology Commons area in development
IT is taking a fresh look at the needs of WCU students and evaluating what types of IT-related services they really want. As a result, the Student Technology Commons is a new area in development.
New authentication method for campus wireless network
In order to keep up with the increasing need for network security, IT has implemented a new authentication method for the campus wireless network.
Campus computing increases usage of remote assistance tool
In an effort to provide more timely assistance to our clients both on and off campus, the campus computing department has increased the usage of Bomgar, a tool that enables us to remotely assist our clients with their issues.
IT delivers 217 new computers to WCU faculty
The hardware services team has been busy this spring with new computer set up and delivery. Funding was made available through the Office of the Provost to upgrade and standardize 217 university-owned computer workstations.
IT investigates additional virus, malware prevention tools
The IT division is seeing a drastic increase in the number of computers compromised by virus and malware activity. As a result, additional virus and malware prevention tools are being investigated.
Google Maps technology to bring campus map to life
Web Services is bringing Google Maps technology to the WCU campus map later this spring.
Web services rolls out paper-to-online-form service
Have you ever wondered why you still have to use paper forms in this age of online everything? So has the Office of Web Services. One potential solution is to use Google Docs forms.
