IT institutes new staff award
The IT Leadership Council (ITLC) has instituted a new staff recognition, the Triple P Award, to honor an outstanding or exceptional staff contribution that will move IT and/or the campus community to a higher level.
IT Root Cause: What is it?
In spring 2010, an IT team was created to meet regularly to review key defects IT had dealt with during previous weeks, identify the root cause of the top key defects and determine what actions should be taken to prevent future occurrences.
DoIT staff updates for spring 2011
Since September 2010 new staff have joined the IT division (DoIT) and other staff members have taken on new roles.
Equipment checkout moves to Technology Commons Service Desk
During the winter holiday break, the equipment available for checkout at the Hunter Library Circulation Desk was moved downstairs into the newly renovated Technology Commons.
Mobile Communication Device Program launches Jan. 17, 2011
On Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 the Division of Information Technology and the Telecommunications Office will officially launch the Mobile Communication Device (MCD) Program. The program features devices such as smartphones, e-mail devices, personal digital assistants and iPads to which the university automatically “pushes” data/e-mail.
Campus data center improvements scheduled for Dec. 30
IT will be making important changes to the campus data center infrastructure on Thursday, Dec. 30. The changes include improvements to the server, storage and network components of the data center.
Reminder: Connection protocol known as IMAP to retire Jan. 17, 2011
In order to reduce security risk to university accounts, the connection protocol known as IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) will be retired Monday, January 17, 2011.
DoIT offers data migration assistance to faculty and staff
DoIT is changing the way it installs new university computers and reworks existing university computers for WCU faculty and staff. Through the use of new tools, DoIT is able to assist with the migration of data.
Class TIPS offers students workshops, assistance for course assignments
Class TIPS, a service of the Technology Commons in the lower level of Hunter Library, offers workshops, small group and one-on-one assistance in utilizing software programs to complete course assignments and projects.
